Orchestral Suite No 3 (Overture) D major BWV 1068 for 4 flutes or flute-ensemble (Weinzierl/Wächter)
Johann Sebastian Bach´s music has always entailed rearrangements as each and every solo player or ensemble wants to perform these extraordinary pieces. The Orchestra suite presented here really calls to be rearranged for a flute ensemble: the four string parts are monophonic, linear and melodicand thus meet the flute´s register. Especially alto flute and the bass flute create a full, warm sound. The bass flute can be replaced by violoncello or bassoon. Performed in a concert, this piece issure to impress the audience.
