Fünf Contretänze K. 609
edition for Flute (2nd Flute), percussion and Piano
There is little in our "Chamber Music Library" that is truly appropriate for school music-making at a beginner´s level, since the easier original works of the Classical and Romantic eras are often scored for large ensembles and instruments which are not among the most costomary. The same applies to Mozart´s ContredansesK. 609, which have been accessible only to school orchestras.
Stefan W. Hiby´s arrangement now opens up these dances to a new public, whereby the scoring fortunately also remains a little variable: a second flute can occasionally play along ad libitum, and the original drum part is of a truly childlike simplicity, playable by the youngest of children. The Contredanses are certain to win many young friends.
